Discipline: Men’s Foil
Best Result: Junior World Championships - Team Bronze
Alex started fencing when he was seven years old at his local club in Worcester after being inspired by Peter Pan and Zorro! He was intially trained by John Harding, before being invited to join a London club at eleven years old to become a competitive fencer and was coached by Laurent Harper and then Ziemek Wojciechowski, who he has been working with ever since.

Alex’s parents, who not only financially supported his ambitions, were patient enough to drive him to and from his home in Worcester to London three times a week. After being awarded a full scholarship to attend Harrow, he took two gap years to concentrate on fencing in his final two years as a Junior. This culminated in winning a team bronze medal as part of the GB team at the Junior World Championships. In that time he also became the Junior Commonwealth Champion and made the quarterfinal at the Eden Cup Junior International. He is now studying medicine at the University of Leicester and is looking forward to gaining experience as a Senior fencer.
