Yes, providing the course is financially viable. Please contact the Equality and Safeguarding Manager

What does Team Manager training cover me for?

It is intended that there will be three levels of TM’s, I have listed what each level will cover you for below;

TM1 – Day trips

TM2 – Domestic trips including overnight stays

TM3 – International trips

At present there is only one training course, which covers TM1 & 2.  It is BF’s intention to develop a training course for TM3 shortly.

I have got all my registration documents together where or whom do I send them to?

If you have access to a scanner, then ideally you send them via email to customerservice@britishfencing.com .

Alternatively, you can send the copies by post to Customer Services, British Fencing, 1 Baron’s Gate, 33-35 Rothschild Road, London W4 5HT

Why is my name listed in blue on the workforce register?

Congratulations you are now a registered Team Manager. For the first register you are on your name will appear in blue and then in black from there on.

Why is my name listed in red on the Team Manager register?

One or several pieces of documentation for registration is out of date. You should have received an email recently explaining this and how to go about renewing your documents. If you have not received an email please contact customerservice@britishfencing.com

I am a registered team manager and have just received an email entitled “First Aid Notice/DBS Notice/Safeguarding and Protecting Children Notice”

You have received this email because according to our records one/several of your registration documents expire in three months time and will require renewing shortly.

In order to avoid being removed from the register we urge you to address this issue at your next earliest convenience using the instructions in the email.

I need to do another DBS check through British Fencing, how do I go about getting a new one?

If you are based in England or Wales please contact admin@britishfencing.com to request a DBS application form. Please note that we can only send DBS application forms to current members so please ensure that your membership is up to date.

Once you have received the new certificate, you will need to subscribe to the online updating service and email the certificate number, your date of birth and permission for us to check your certificate in order for us to view your updated certificate. http://britishfencing.com/governance/dbs/

Those who live in Scotland or Northern Ireland will need to contact the home country national governing body.

I have a DBS Enhanced Disclosure certificate from my place of work; can I use that instead of doing a British Fencing DBS application form?

Unfortunately British Fencing are not registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service to accept checks obtained through other organisations e.g. schools unless you have registered with the online updating service https://secure.crbonline.gov.uk/crsc/apply

We therefore require you to complete a DBS check through British Fencing. Please note that you must be a current member of British Fencing in order to receive a DBS application form.

Current and potential Team Managers in Northern Ireland and Scotland need to complete their equivalent criminal records checks: Access NI and DisclosureScotland.

Do I have to pay for my DBS check?

DBS checks for volunteers are free.

My First Aid qualification is about to expire, how do I go about getting a new one?

You need to attend a first aid course.  British Fencing’s minimum requirement for this is the “Emergency First Aid at Work” certificate as laid out by the Health and Safety Executive.

You can find details of courses through your County Sport Partnership, or one of the many providers available.   The cost of these can vary significantly so you are advised to shop around

Alternatively visit the “How to Be a Team Manager” page in the Workforce section of the British Fencing Website for a list of recognised courses. http://britishfencing.com/courses/teammanager/courses/how_to_become_a_team_manager

I am a Doctor/Nurse/GP/medically trained person; do I still need to attain a first aid course?

No, if you can provide evidence that you have undergone basic first aid training as part of your medical training than you do not have to attend a first aid course. Please contact Customer Service at customerservice@britishfencing.com for more details.

My Safeguarding and Protecting Children qualification is about to expire, how do I go about getting a new one?

You need to attend a Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop. You can search for and book onto this on the Sports Coach UK website at http://www.sportscoachuk.org/workshops/workshop-search

I am a teacher/youth worker/trained to work with children for my job; do I still need to attain a Safeguarding and Protecting of Children course?

Yes you do, as you will need to have covered good practice and understand safeguarding within a sporting context.

I am a registered Team Manager and have just received an email entitled “Removal from Workforce Register”?

Unless there are exceptional circumstances you have been removed from the Workforce Register because one/several of your registration documents have been out of date for 3 months or more. The email will give you instructions on how to go about renewing these documents.

You will not be reinstated to the register until you have submitted all outstanding pieces of paperwork.

I used to be on the Team Manager register but now I am not?

You have been removed from the register because one or several registration documents have been expired for longer than three months. You should have received an email recently explaining this and how to go about renewing your documents. If you have not received an email please contact Customer service customerservice@britishfencing.com
