Equality Standard for Sport

British Fencing aims for Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport

Over recent months we have been undertaking a lot of work with a view to making a submission for the Foundation Standard of the Equality Standard for Sport. These standards encourage governing bodies to look at the work they do to ensure their organisations are as equitable as possible and ensure that all are encouraged to participate and that there are no barriers to entry or progression. A key part of this was the equality profiling that was conducted using the online surveys. The results of these surveys have helped us to form our action plan to address certain areas where we could be doing more.

The submission is currently with the assessors and we hope to have the results back in early January. In the meantime however the Board are pushing forward with the action plan and are looking to set up an action group. Advertisements for chair and members of this action group will be made available soon, once the Board has approved the terms of reference. There are also a number of other key projects we will be running and these will be announced shortly. If you are interested in getting involved in work to promote equality within British Fencing please contact the Board Equality Champion, Murray Morrison, Keith Smith, President, or Piers Martin , CEO.
