European Fencing Confederation Cadet event to be held at 2012 venue
British Fencing is pleased to be supporting the GLL Camden International Cadet Sabre Tournament on the weekend of 25-26 January 2014. This is the eighth year in a row that the event has run which now holds European Confederation of Fencing ratification for the European Cadet ranking scheme.
The individual tournaments (boys and girls) will be held at the Copper Box in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (25th January), a venue that hosted both handball and modern pentathlon events during the 2012 Games. The team events will be held at the recently opened Leon Paul Fencing Centre the following day.
GLL have supported this event for six years. They are a charitable social enterprise that has pioneered new ways of delivering and investing in sport, leisure and cultural services. They manage over 100 sports and leisure venues for 27 key partner organisations making them the largest public and leisure operator in the UK.
Organiser, Ronald Velden, commenting on the event, said; “We would like to thank our sponsors GLL and Leon Paul for offering to support our tournament and providing such excellent facilities. I would also like to thank British Fencing for providing assistance in running the competition.”
The individual events on Saturday 25th January at the Copper Box will be open to spectators, however you will need to have a ticket to enter the venue. These are available free of charge by contacting Katie Dolan (email@example.com) and the tickets will be sent to you via email. Please include in the email the number of adults and under-18s you wish to be allocated tickets for. There are a limited number of tickets available through British Fencing and they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
A FREE minibus service will be provided for competitors from Stratford Station to the Copper Box. The minibuses will operate from 8am onwards and can be found outside Westfield Shopping Centre close to the Cow Pub.
