2024 OLYMPIC GAMES NOMINATION CONSULTATION PART 2

Following the previous consultation and replacement of the individual event in the European Games with the European Championships, the 2024 Olympic Games Nomination Policy has been updated.

BF published the 2024 Olympic Nomination Policy for consultation with members and stakeholders here.

Following this consultation the FIE made the decision to remove Olympic qualification points from the European Games individual event, necessitating a new European Championship individual event to be held. The FIE has also now published the 2023-24 season calendar.

The most recent draft of the Nomination Policy has been updated to reflect this situation. In addition there has been a point of clarity introduced in relation to the discretionary team places which during the qualification period for the events specified allows for “performances in the individual event may be taken into account, performances against athletes likely to be at the 2024 Olympics will be prioritised”. Finally the terminology to describe the FIE world ranking has been updated to FIE Individual Official Ranking in line with the published FIE Olympic Qualification System document.

In light of the low levels of response to the previous consultation (1 parent of a senior athlete responded) and in discussion with the Senior Athlete Panel we have decided to further extend the opportunity for feedback until the 15th June 2023.

Please read the original consultation post here for full context and details.

Consultation responses should be submitted via the form here by 14th June 2023.

The final Nomination Policy will be subject to agreement with the British Olympic Association and approval by the BF Board.
