2024 BF HONOURS ANNOUNCEMENT
Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2024 BF Honours, announced by outgoing President Hilary Philbin at the AGM on Saturday 19th October.
The 2024 AGM was held on the 19th October at the British Olympic Association. The following BF Honours were announced and presented to those that were able to attend by Hilary Philbin in her last meeting as BF President:
Award of Merit
- Aimee Aronica: for services as a coach and event volunteer.
- Marcus Messer: for volunteer services to fencing events.
- Arlen Veysey: for volunteer services to fencing events.
Bronze Medal
- Andrew Goodier: for volunteer services to fencing events.
- Lynette & Mike Robinson: for volunteer services to Welsh Veteran Fencing.
- Hilary Sahota: for volunteer services to wheelchair fencing.
- Carole Seheult: for volunteer services in supporting fencing at all levels, in the North East and across the UK.
Silver Medal
- Sue Brooks: for volunteer services to fencing at all levels including GBR selection.
- Jonathan Collins: for his voluntary contribution in promoting fencing under the most extraordinary circumstances.
- Janet Milner: for many years of volunteering at BF events.
- Marcia Stretch: for a lifelong voluntary contribution to fencing.
Gold Medal
- James Williams: for his outstanding contribution to fencing.

The Anne Hanrahan Award
This trophy was donated anonymously in memory of Anne Hanrahan, not only for her long service as a volunteer but also for her outstanding personal qualities. Recipients of the award will therefore have contributed many years of service in a voluntary capacity, while demonstrating the following qualities:
- Hardworking – consistently going above and beyond the call of duty.
- Uncompromisingly honest and fair – never allowing personal allegiances to affect their decision-making.
- Always showing passion and devotion to the sport.
The Anne Hanrahan award was presented to Caz Walton.

The BF Honours nomination system focuses on members and ex-members with all nominations coming direct from members. The Honours Committee acts as selectors with the objective of recommending awards in a wide range of categories while ensuring that there is consistency of award levels and criteria. Awards are made annually and announced at the AGM.
