SAFEGUARD UNIVERSITY WELFARE OFFICER TRAINING JANUARY 2025

The first University Welfare Officer training session is scheduled for 15th January 2025. 

For the very first time, BF is organising a University Welfare Officer (UWO) training session, scheduled for Wednesday 15th January 2025 between 2:00 and 5:00pm.

The course has been specifically tailored to address the unique aspects of university clubs, focusing on issues such as hazing and mental health. A University Welfare Officer (UWO) is responsible for supporting the welfare and safety of individuals within the university setting.

The current learning outcomes for the course include:

  • Identify what a University Welfare Officer does.
  • Describe how a University Welfare Officer works with others to create a positive culture.
  • Outline responsibilities for adults at risk.
  • Increase awareness of mental health concerns.
  • Explain how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment.
  • Apply learning to case studies including sharing good safeguarding practices.
