BF COMMUNITY AWARDS – VIVECA ABRAHAMS MEMORIAL

A reminder that the British Fencing Community Awards 2023-24 are closing soon, and a closer look at the Viveca Abrahams Memorial award.

We will be delving into the Viveca Abrahams Memorial award and what criteria a nominee should meet.

The annual British Fencing Community Awards recognise the best of our clubs, coaches, fencers, and volunteers and their contribution to fencing. Due it being an Olympic and Paralympic year, this awards period will cover the 1st September 2023 to the 7th September 2024 to recognise this.

BF members (all membership types) can nominate members of the community via the online nomination form. From the nominations, a shortlist of nominees will be produced. An independent panel will then select the winners of the BF Awards 2023-24.

A nominee for the Viveca Abrahams Memorial award can be any project that provides fun and engaging experiences in fencing, helping people to start and achieve personal success in the sport. The project could have:

  • Seen increased participation and enjoyment in the sport
  • Demonstrated innovative practice or opportunities
  • Had positive impact within their community for underrepresented groups such as ethnically diverse communities, disabled people or women and girls
  • Used fencing as a tool to positively impact people’s lives e.g. improve wellbeing or increasing opportunities to be physically active.*In the case of the Viveca Abrahams award no BF membership is required, please detail the project’s name and contact details instead*.
