British Fencing Partner with Silver Sabres LED Academy

As part of British Fencing’s development strategy to increase the number of 14-25 years olds who regularly participate in fencing, the development team have been exploring innovative ways to engage a new audience of young people in sword play.

An example of this new activity is LED Sabre. LED Sabre is not only a fun and engaging version of sword play it is also a hybrid version of fencing that combines historical longsword techniques and martial arts practice. Together these can create a truly meaningful experience.

In order to deliver this project, British Fencing has partnered with Silver Sabres Limited, an LED Sabre combat academy, to develop a fun and engaging LED Sabre offer. British Fencing is initially trialling this project with existing delivery partners operating in the youth and Higher Education sectors.

British Fencing’s Development Director, Gabby Williams, is pleased to be working with Silver Sabres and said; ‘Silver Sabres Limited was founded by Nick Musson and Faisal Mian.  Their approach to the delivery of this project is a departure from the more traditional approach of providing an attractive fencing experience, bringing with them their background in other combat disciplines. This combined with their experience of working on the stage and screen arena and importantly under the guidance of the Development Team to reach new audiences of young people by utilising our network of delivery partners, this is an exciting time for fencing to create a different and sustainable route into the sport.
