GREAT BRITAIN CLAIM MEN’S TEAM FOIL WORLD BRONZE
GB defeat World Number 1 team USA on way to World Bronze
Great Britain saved their best performance at this year’s Cadet & Junior World Championships for the last day, as the Junior Men’s Foil team claimed a bronze medal on Sunday.
Jai Birch, Alex Lloyd, Rajan Rai and Harry Bird (in reserve) started the day strongly, beating Venezuela 45-31 and then Egypt 45-39 to make the quarterfinal. There they faced the World number one team, the USA, who they beat 45-41.
In the semi-finals, they lost to Japan 45-18 but went on to beat Latvia 45-35 to clinch the bronze medal. Japan went on to win, beating Italy 45-44 in the gold medal match.

Our main focus has always been on the team event and I am thrilled that we managed to deliver such a fantastic performance. I would also like to thank all the individual coaches whose hard work contributed to the team’s great success.”
