Playing a leading role to help British Fencing – the National Governing Body for Fencing – strengthen its core market, the Programme Manager (PM) is a senior position responsible for driving sustainable activity in the Education sector. The PM works with national and regional strategic partners who are contracted to British Fencing to ensure growth and resilience in universities, colleges and other educational establishments. They also build new relationships with partners beyond the sports sector who evidence successes of engaging people in positive swordplay-related activity. This is achieved by working towards British Fencing’s Vision & Mission:

Mission – “To inspire and enable people to start, stay and succeed in Fencing”
British Fencing launched an innovative Sabre:Lite project in 2016/17. The role will focus on maintaining student engagement in Sabre:Lite, amongst other innovations, as part of its education operational plan, e.g. Club in a Box, Student Membership, University Fencing Officers (UFO’s).
This maternity-cover opportunity (up to 52 weeks) is open to an exceptional person to join a strong and dynamic team at British Fencing, taking the lead on the NGB’s work with universities, colleges and other partners that could have a role to play in student fencing activity. The role’s key responsibilities would be to deliver on BF’s Education objectives, namely:
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level with an excellent knowledge of community sport and the sports development landscape, in particular within an under-25 age group context. Qualifications and/or in-depth experience in Project Management and Programme Sustainability are also desirable. Highly skilled in finding creative solutions, they will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and develop good working relationships in a complex stakeholder group.
