Congratulations to GBR referees Adrian Speakman and Daniel Hazelwood who have both been selected by the EFC onto their refereeing Master List.
Containing 64 FIE qualified (in at least two weapons) referees from over 20 countries this list is used by the EFC in conjunction with national federation proposals to select referees for major events such as the European Championships.
After his third season as a two weapon FIE qualified referee, Daniel Hazelwood has been selected for the first time to this list. He joins Adrian Speakman who has been on the list since it was first published by the EFC in 2018.
Adrian had been selected to referee at the 2020 Senior, U23 and Veteran European Championships all of which have been cancelled or postponed in light of COVID-19.
Daniel Hazelwood said of his inclusion on the list, “I am honoured to be selected by the EFC to join their Master List. I am also very grateful for the development opportunities provided by BF’s Referee Pathway programme which has led to this selection.
Adrian Speakman added, “I am delighted to be selected onto the EFC Master List for the third season in a row and I am looking forward to the resumption of international competition”.
Georgina Usher, BF CEO, said, “I’d like to congratulate Adrian and Daniel for their selection. Both referees have worked extremely hard to earn this selection and we look forward to seeing them both back in refereeing action once the international circuit resumes. This selection is further evidence of the development pathway we are creating for GBR referees to perform at the highest international levels”.
BF’s Referee Pathway Programme is supported by funding from UK Sport and Sport England.
