(Federation Internationale d’Escrime)
The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body of fencing.
The Fédération Internationale d’Escrime was founded in 1913 and Great Britain was one of the nine founding nations. There are now over 150 member national federations.
The FIE establishes the rules to which international competitions must be organised and oversees their implementation.
To compete in an FIE event, a fencer must be entered by their National Federation and have an FIE licence. For more information about getting an EFC licence see FIE/EFC LICENCES – BRITISH FENCING.
For information about entering FIE events (and the associated selection policies) please see: GBR SELECTION POLICIES & PROCEDURES – BRITISH FENCING.
To enter non nominated (ie those which are not selected) FIE events please complete this form.
Structure

A number of BF members are involved in supporting the work of the FIE through Commissions and Councils. (For more information about which BF members are involved see International Relations Group – BRITISH FENCING).
