The recent review of the domestic levels of referee education included para fencing refereeing for the first time as part of the full range of disciplines offered. Chris Farren Head of the IWAS Referee Committee will present a two hour introductory session that will highlight the differences between the refereeing requirements for able-bodied and para fencing.
This online session is open to anyone with a BF membership, who is interested in learning more about refereeing for para fencing. It will be of particular interest to referees who would like to know more about the recent updates and questions are welcome.
Chris is currently the head of the IWAS referee commission and is responsible for global wheelchair fencing referee development. An ex-GBR sabre fencer, Chris has won both individual and team national champion titles and since retiring from competitive fencing has refereed both able bodied and wheelchair fencing events all over the world, including at three consecutive Paralympic Games.
#BFLearningWeek 2022 will explore many aspects of our exciting sport, with experts in coaching, sports psychology and performance joining guest speakers and the BF team to give insight into our fencing world and its future.
The week takes place between 22nd and 29th August with a series of online events.
