HONOURS
Like other national governing bodies, British Fencing is invited to nominate candidates for Honours. The next opportunity is the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2014; the BF Board has to submit candidates by September 20th.
I quote from the formal letter from the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS);-
“The honours system is there to recognise the achievements of ordinary people. We know there are hundreds of people working hard, often behind the scenes and in a voluntary capacity, unsung heroes who deserve to be honoured”.
There is a commitment to “increasing the number of nominations for those who continue to be severely under represented in this sector ie women, black and ethnic minorities and those with a disability”.
The Board would welcome any proposals from the BF membership, by August 30 please. Please send details, in strict confidence, to Kim in the British Fencing Head Office.
