22/23 GBR JWE SELECTION – MAALOT 2023

GB Women’s Epee squad that is selected for the JWC event in Maalot, Israel.

NOTE: Athletes will need to fly on Thursday as Friday is a day of Sabbath and nothing runs on Friday. There are no transfers from the airport to the hotel. You will need to take the train from the airport to the hotel. We will be in touch with more information around travel and logistics.

Due to the deadline falling falling close to the holiday period and the office being closed next week, there maybe a delay in response to queries or issues.

FIE Licence – you need a licence to compete
From 1st August 2022, you must apply for the FIE licence through the British Fencing Membership Portal.

Please go to bf.sport80.com – log in using your membership login details; click on the Licences tab and follow the directions for an FIE licence.

Hotel
Olive Boutique Hotel Nahariya
Rooms are booked for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

Parents should not book into the athlete hotel
Rooms will only be booked for fencers. Personal coaches will need to make their own reservation.

FIE COVID Testing Rules
The FIE still have COVID rules in place for the FIE events.

Facemasks must be worn, except when fencing, training and eating;
Participants will need to present to the organisers the negative result of one
Covid–19 test (PCR or RAT – Rapid Antigen Test), performed within maximum 72 hours before the arrival in the country
Other sanitary measures at the competition may be implemented by the host
federation at their option or as required by the national authorities.

BF COVID instructions for the above test

Athletes and staff to test prior to leaving the UK within 72 hours of the arrival time into the country travelling to and take a photo of the test and also bring the test with them to present at registration. Everyone is also to bring a spare test to the registration as a back up.
Everyone to bring enough masks for the duration of the event.

Athlete Contributions
As the cost of travel and accommodation have increased due to the current climate we have had to increase the travel and administration costs to reflect this.

Team Manager/Coach Contribution: £70
Referee Contribution: £100. Each Junior World Cup squad of 10 or more will require 2 referees (or a 1000 euro fine per missing referee – which could happen at the last minute eg if a referee tests positive for COVID or illness). BF, through the ADP, will be subsidising the additional costs of fines/travel where required. Rules around referee quotas and fines can be found on the FIE website here, o.25 and o.31.
Additional Coach: £0 (approx. £65 per head subsidy by BF when a coach is provided)
Accommodation: £60/night (normally a minimum of 2 nights, based on sharing). Any additional nights required by fencers they will need to be booked by the individual. When doing this you can ask the hotel to have the same room but please do not alter any BF bookings.
Administration: £15 (£20 per head subsidy by BF)

Athletes that breach BF Codes of Conduct risk becoming ineligible for future financial subsidies and may be required to refund any grants and subsidies.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
All selections are subject to possession of a British passport/certificate of British Citizenship.

A selection email from Sport80 will follow this post within 24 hours. Please note all places must be accepted within 48 hours of notification from the BF membership platform (Sport80) unless notified otherwise.

All BF Codes of Conduct apply to athletes, parents, coaches and officials and attention are drawn in particular to the Code of Conduct for Youth Events.

Accredited Personal Coaches
If you wish to apply to attend in the capacity of a personal coach you must register in advance with BF. Personal Coaches must apply for accreditation to each event using the following form. As a reminder, personal coaches must not coach against fellow GBR fencers during international competitions.

All coaches, including personal coaches, must be on the BF Coaching Register.

The BF Appeal Policy and Procedure published here sets out the framework process that will be followed. Athletes have two (2) working days to submit their notices of appeal.
