It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Hanrahan who died last Thursday. Anne was involved in fencing for many years, running Cyrano Fencing Club in the Eastern Region with her husband Dave, producing senior international standard fencers and was also actively and heavily involved in the administration of youth foil on a national level. Her commitment and dedication to the sport were second-to-none, not only as an active member of the foil committee but also as coordinator of Junior Foil trips. Whilst her loyalties were rightly with members of her fencing club, Anne will be remembered as the beacon of impartiality at a time when the clubs in London were fierce rivals. Anne will be missed by the whole foil community and many more in the British Fencing family.
Her funeral will take place on
Monday 14 May at 2.40pm at Southend Crematorium, Sutton Road, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 5PX
Wake: (Follows funeral) The Lawn, Hall Road, Rochford, SS4 1PL and all will be welcomed.
