We Are Forging Futures – in association with BF – was featured at this year’s Youth Sport Trust (YST) Conference, which focused on the role of physical activity in improving mental health.
On Thursday 2nd March, We Are Forging Futures took part as an exhibitor at the annual YST Conference. This year’s event was centred around the ‘power of PE, sport and play to improve mental health’, in response to recent NHS findings that the number of children in England needing treatment for serious mental health problems has risen by 39% in a year.
The Conference featured presentations from education experts, activists, policy-makers and mental health specialists. The event provided important insights into physical literacy, which emphasises the development of confidence in young people to allow them to engage in sport and physical activity. This value is integral to We Are Forging Futures, as our programmes focus on personal development and instilling self-belief as a means of opening opportunities for young people. We took part in discussions with teachers, delegates and policy makers across the country about how fencing can be an agent of change in fulfilling the Conference’s objective.
We Are Forging Futures harnesses the exciting world of swordplay as part of a distinctive journey to help more young people engage in lifelong learning.
