Following a rigorous testing day by the World Class Programme Team last week, we are delighted to announce that from 1st April 2014 the following athletes have been selected on to the World Class Podium Potential Programme for Men’s Sabre. In alphabetical order they are:
In addition, we have agreed that Alex Crutchett will be a ‘Programme Only’ athlete to support the current senior Men’s Sabre team as we build and develop the podium potential programme for 2020.
Alex Newton, Performance Director said; “I would like to congratulate all the athletes that have been nominated on to this new Programme for men’s sabre. We had a full day of testing and assessment. I was impressed with all of the athletes that attended and it was a difficult decision to confirm the final six. As we grow and develop the World Class Programmes, we would hope that UK Sport will provide further places to support more fencers across the weapons. The whole team is looking forward to working with this new cohort of athletes.”
