The GBR Cadet Women’s Sabre Team took the silver medal at the most recent EFC event, held in Bucharest, Romania. This achievement makes GBR 1 the number one-ranked team going into the Cadet & Junior European Championships, taking place later next month.
With a bye into the tableau of 16, GBR 1 triumphed over UKR 2 45-33 before facing UKR 1, similarly defeating them 45-35. GBR 1 went on to claim victory over AZE 45-28 in the semi-final, before being knocked out in a close match against home team ROU 1, the final score coming to 45-42.
The silver medal marks the fifth medal this season, in an already impressive collection of three golds and one bronze.
Coach Bela said,
“This season, the girls earned their most hard-fought medal, fuelled by extensive effort, adrenaline, and teamwork. Despite numerous challenges throughout the day, the girls demonstrated remarkable team spirit, staying united and supporting each other. I am immensely proud of them.”
