SAVE THE DATE: BF LEARNING WEEK 2024

BF Learning Week 2024 will be taking place between the 30th August and 6th September. The timetable will be released shortly with online and in-person learning opportunities on a variety of subjects, and periodically updated as more events are confirmed.

BF Learning Week is an annual opportunity for our members and wider community to join online developmental and informative sessions in subjects from coaching to community development. The week will commence with a CBT Listening-Understanding-Responded Workshop for the ADP coaches, led by Dr Jonathan Katz.

This year, BF Learning Week will be taking place alongside the Paralympic Games, with a special focus on wheelchair fencing and inclusion to celebrate the Games.

CEO, Georgina Usher, said,

During Learning Week, we will be dedicating time to explore and understand the nuances of our incredible sport and develop, celebrate and learn. With the Paralympics in full flow, we will be using this opportunity to focus on wheelchair fencing; this aspect of fencing not only highlights the skill and agility required, but also embodies the spirit of inclusivity and perseverance.  Wheelchair fencing at the Games is a testament to the indomitable human spirit, challenging athletes to push beyond physical limitations; Paris 2024 will no doubt showcase the immense talent and determination of para-athletes. By participating in Learning Week, we hope you will gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity and resilience within the world of fencing and be inspired to learn and be part of its future success, from grass-roots all the way to the Olympics and Paralympics.

Dusty Miller, Head of People & Culture, said,

“This Learning Week is an opportunity not just to learn more about the sport but to embrace the values of inclusivity, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence through self-development. I encourage each of you to participate actively and to immerse yourselves in this enriching experience. Let’s come together to celebrate the incredible world of wheelchair fencing and to support the extraordinary athletes who inspire us with their unwavering dedication and passion.”

The timetable will be published shortly, and will include online sessions and discussion events.
