Former Scottish Fencing Board member to edit ‘The Sword’

British Fencing is delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Rogers to the post of Editor of ‘The Sword’ magazine.  Ed began fencing at school in the 1960’s and has since excelled as a fencer, coach and coaching examiner.  Until last August he served as Director of Development for Scottish Fencing.  Now retired from his day job, this former architect/planner increasingly focused on writing, beginning as a major contributor to ‘The Point’, the former magazine of Scottish Fencing, then as the author of a number of fencing books.  He will be working with the newly formed Editorial Board comprising Paul Abrahams, William Pitt and Karim Bashir. Speaking of his recent appointment, Ed said; “I am very pleased to be taking on this important role in British Fencing and working with the new Editorial Board.

Georgina Usher, CEO of British Fencing said; “The Sword is a very important part of British Fencing’s heritage and I am confident that with this new team in place the Sword has an exciting future ahead.”

William Pitt, British Fencing Board Director added; “Ed is passionate about fencing, and immensely knowledgeable.  For decades, the Sword has been an essential forum for the exchange of news and views among British fencers.  I am confident that under Ed’s leadership it will continue to play this crucial role while also inspiring and attracting new fencers.”
