BRITISH FENCING IS SAD TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF MIKE MATTHEWS
It is with great sadness that British Fencing announce the passing of Mike Matthews. Most recently Mike had coached sabre at Brentwood and Whitgift schools as well as at London Thames Fencing Club. He was a Polish international sabreur, Head Coach for the men’s sabre team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and British Fencing’s Head Junior Sabre Coach for many years. He also coached Alex O’Connell when he became Cadet World Champion in 2005. Our condolences go to his family and friends and all of those close to him through the sport of fencing.
