British Fencing is proud to be rolling out SwordMark, the fencing specific version of Sport England’s Club Accreditation programme: Clubmark.
SwordMark is British Fencing’s quality mark. For clubs who gain accreditation, this means British Fencing (and Sport England) recognise that the club operates to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
British Fencing is working closely with Sport England and the County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) to provide clubs with support for their application at a local level. British Fencing, in conjunction with Sport England, has also trained a network of assessors (our Lead Tutors) who will not only assess clubs but will assist them during the application stage.
There are numerous benefits to a club for achieving SwordMark accreditation including, funding, developing membership, links to schools, developing coaching staff and a raised profile.
Egham Fencing Club is the latest club to achieve SwordMark. Chairman Mike Johnson showed his delight at receiving the accreditation, “The award is an excellent recognition of the club’s coaches, committee, fencers and the parents of our younger fencers for the hard work and support they put in every week to make our club a safe place to train, develop and compete.”
Speaking about the program, British Fencing’s National Development Manager, Ben Campion said, “I am really excited about the commitment that fencing clubs are making to SwordMark accreditation, we have 15 clubs who are already accredited and there are 63 other clubs who have applied. It shows the real passion our clubs have for developing a high quality experience for all fencers.” To find out more please contact our Schools and Clubs Officer, Holly Miles on 020 8742 3032 or at [email protected].
