It is with much sadness that we start off the year with the news that Neil Ross has passed away.  Neil died  after suffering with stomach cancer.  Our sympathies go to his wife Cath who was never far from his side and supported him through and through.  Cath has asked us to pass on her thanks for the messages and tributes that she has received.  The level of network activity shows just how much Neil meant to so many people and the impact he had on their lives.
Neil was a key member of BDFA.  He had a long competitive career as a fencer and currently was serving on both the BDFA Executive Committee and IWAS.  He was an inspiration to new fencers and always keen to assist in any way.  He was also a very talented quiz master extraordinaire!  Sport was a real passion of Neil’s and he had been very much involved with amputee football, basketball, coaching, rugby, tennis and fishing…to name but a few. He also worked in a National Role at a major leisure centre delivering disability awareness training, before moving to Scope.
Above all Neil will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his kindness and friendship.  Neil may have not lived a long life, but it was certainly a full and happy one.  He will be greatly missed.
