The 2023 British Para Fencing National Championships will be held on 15th/16th July in Swansea, and the British Wheelchair Open Championships will be held on 3rd/4th June in Sheffield.
The British Para Fencing National Championships (July, Swansea)
This event is for classified (domestic or international, category A or B) para athletes who are eligible to compete for GBR and will take place in Swansea over the weekend of 15th July as part of the 2023 Para Sport Festival.
The opportunity arose for the National Championships to be included in the Para Sport Festival. After communication and consultation with a number of athletes and the EIS World Class Programme, the decision was taken to separate the event from the British Senior National Championships (due to take place in April) and include it in the festival in Swansea.
Organised by Disability Sport Wales, the Para Sport Festival will include a number of other National Para Championships, including the World Triathlon Para Series and the Ironman 70.3. Running alongside the competitive element of the festival, Welsh Fencing will be delivering ‘have a go’ sessions to give people the opportunity to try wheelchair fencing and find out how they can get involved in the sport.
The British Open Championships (June, Sheffield)
The British Open Championships will include wheelchair disciplines across all 6 weapons.
The wheelchair disciplines are open to all fencers (whether classified or not) including those not eligible to compete for GBR.
Entry information will be released soon.
