BF is delighted to announce that the 2020 British Youth Championships (the “BYCs”) will take place over the weekend of Friday 8th – Sunday 10th May 2020 in Birmingham.
The change of dates is in response to the June government announcement that the early May bank holiday in 2020 will move from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
As the largest annual event in the calendar, the BYCs requires 3 consecutive days. The EIS in Sheffield already had a booking on the new bank holiday weekend as had many other large venues around the UK including Nottingham University and EIS London.
BF also considered moving to the later bank holiday weekend however feedback around timings of exams meant this was not the best option for the fencers.
Following an extensive search, BF has found what we believe will be an excellent new venue for the 2020 BYCs, allowing for a better field of play and spectator experience. Full details for the event including weapon days and timetable will follow in the coming months.
Please note that it is very likely that weapon days will change from 2019 so please wait until the timetable has been announced before making bookings.
