As regional qualifying events for the British Youth Championships and Regional Qualifiers/Championships take place, members are reminded to check their regional affiliation on their membership profile before selecting and entering a qualifier.
Each member of BF is affiliated to a Home Country and a Region. This is set by members when they take out their membership, and 40% of the membership fee collected by BF is then passed over to the Home Country association to support grass roots development of fencing.
The regional affiliation selected by members will define the Region for which you may fence in representative teams (ie Winton Cup and Cadet Winton), as well as the Region in which you can enter regional competitions, such as BYC qualifiers or Regional Senior Championships.
With BYC Regional Qualifying Events (RQEs) and other senior regional events taking place over the next few months, members are reminded to check their regional affiliation. This can be done by selecting ‘memberships’ on your athlete profile on the BF Membership platform.
Events on the BF platform can be set up so that only members with a specific regional affiliation can enter, therefore it is important to check that you have affiliated to the region you wish to represent or compete in so that you can enter the correct event.
There are no qualifying criteria for regional affiliation – it is simply a matter for the fencer to choose for themselves which region they prefer at the time that they join or renew their membership. Please note that choice will then last for 1 year, as regions can only be changed once in a membership year.
To change your region please click complete this form. You will hear back from us via email within 2 working days.
