World Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships 2013 in Porec, CRO
Lausanne, 8 March 2013 – In a little bit less than a month, the city of Porec, Croatia, will welcome the World Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships 2013. The event will take place from 6 to 15 April 2013.
The World Cadet and Junior Championships are this season’s highlight for young fencers aged from 14 to 20 from all over the world. Between 900 – 1000 young talents are expected to participate in the competitions. The first finals will be on 7 April in cadets men’s sabre and women’s foil. In the junior category, the first medals will be distributed on 9 April. The junior team competitions start on 12 April.
Right before the world championships, 29 March to 5 April, the FIE organises an international training camp for young fencers. More than 50 national federations from five continents have been invited to send a representative. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in the competitions.
During the world championships, the FIE 100 Hall of Fame will be exhibited as well as an exhibition about the history of fencing and the FIE, making valuable fencing artefacts available to the public. The cadet and junior fencers will be the first to receive the new FIE centennial medals.
