Dragonhead Fencing Club is looking for a volunteer coaching assistant, an assistant coach or an epee coach to support the development of young fencers.
Venue: Old Boat Community Centre, 172 Carden Hill, Brighton BN1 8GN
Dragonhead Fencing Club focuses on teaching kids aged 8-12 using a constraints-led approach, with games to enhance understanding. They are currently looking for a volunteer coaching assistant, an assistant coach or an epee coach.
Dragonhead Fencing Club incorporates elements of a whole athlete/ high performance environment while catering to the diverse needs of children. The club recently began encouraging fencers to participate in U10 and U12 events. Supporting high performance offerings and building trustful relationships would be essential for anyone joining the team.
The club has just started their third year at their Brighton venue and is nearing its current maximum capacity. Additionally, a number of fencers will soon age out of the age range of the current classes. By joining the club you would support their continued development in the sport and grow the number of people fencing in Brighton.
One position is available to co-deliver classes 3:30PM – 6:00PM every Tuesday (44 weeks of the year).
For suitable volunteer applicants, there are two positions available. If you have the enthusiasm and skillset, there is scope for arranged lessons 6PM – 8:30PM, there are currently more fencers seeking lessons than there is capacity.
Support for the club’s weekend sessions would be highly desired, but not essential. These are offered on a semi-regular basis on Saturday afternoons.
Responsibilities:
This is a great opportunity for volunteers interested in pursuing coach education, assistant coaches to develop and grow with the club and epee coaches to help expand the club.
Salary: £30 minimum per afternoon (for paid roles).
Requirements: Coaches and volunteers must be registered with British Fencing, holding a suitable enhanced DBS.
