BF COMMUNITY AWARDS – COMMUNITY COACH OF THE YEAR

A reminder that nominations are open for the British Fencing Community Awards 2023-24 and a closer look at the Community Coach of the Year award.

We will be delving into the Community Coach of the Year award and what criteria a nominee should meet.

The annual British Fencing Community Awards recognise the best of our clubs, coaches, fencers, and volunteers and their contribution to fencing. Due it being an Olympic and Paralympic year, this awards period will cover the 1st September 2023 to the 7th September 2024 to recognise this.

BF members (all membership types) can nominate members of the community via the online nomination form. From the nominations, a shortlist of nominees will be produced. An independent panel will then select the winners of the BF Awards 2023-24.

The Community Coach of the Year award celebrates coaches who:

  • Have played a role and supported the athlete(s) to gain significant results during the 2023/24 season
  • Demonstrate a player-centred approach and are an example of innovative coaching practice
  • A role model of best practice to others within the fencing coaching community
  • Demonstrate a positive and continuous learning attitude in their development as a coach

Robina Begum (Binni) won the Community Coach of the Year for 2022-23.
