On Tuesday 19th of October at 7 pm Christopher Lennon (President of Team Durham, Fencing Program Performance Manager) will lead a talk to athletes and young potential high-performance athletes on the experience of fencing at a high level at University.
The talk will describe the fencing experience at University, some of the challenges athletes may face when seeking to train at a high level and an explanation of the BUCS inter-University fencing program. The BUCS University Fencing program is an immensely positive experience for many athletes who may, before University, be unfamiliar with how it operates.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to discover more about the fencing experience at a top University fencing program with insights into the Durham University experience. Durham’s fencing program is one of the top fencing performance programs in Britain, having won a record-breaking 4 national championships in a row, producing 3 individual champions in the last year and setting the all-time points record for the past 5 years in a row.
The program incorporates the highest levels of athlete support including scholarships, performance analysis, conditioning, physiotherapy, psychology and from next year the UK’s first FencingVision video replay system. All of this deployed within the only University fencing salle solely dedicated to fencing.
All attendees are welcomed and there will be opportunities for questions on all topics.
