The European Fencing Confederation (EFC) has published the competition calendar for the International Under 17 (Cadet) circuit competitions.
The new EFC calendar published on 14th September can be found in full here. It includes the current FIE Junior competitions, based on the latest information published on the FIE website which can be found here.
The publication of the new competition calendar is broadly in line with the framework of previous (pre-COVID) seasons which we had anticipated and prepared for in the scheduling of our recent domestic British Ranking Competitions (BRCs).
We have had to wait for this calendar to complete the planning process for our calendar. This includes confirming which competitions will be nominated and also scheduling in BRCs (in previous seasons the EFC will be finalising calendars in April/May). Further information on nominated events and provisional BRC dates will be published in the next week.
Please note
Changes will occur at short notice – All calendars (FIE, EFC and BF) will be subject to change, and in some cases this is happening at very short notice due to circumstances outside of BF’s control.
Nomination & selection timescales may be compressed – Selections for nominated international competitions are traditionally scheduled six weeks from the competition date. BF reserves the right to use shorter notice periods for some selections where the necessary information is not available (for example we may not have received the reglements/official information, the date of competition has changed, a competition is cancelled and a replacement is scheduled earlier).
General Reminders for all EFC events:
Entry & Exit Requirements – Athletes and parents need to review the requirements to enter those respective countries. Athletes and parents are also required to ensure they understand the requirements to return to the UK or their respective countries.
EFC Licenses will need to be purchased via the BF membership platform. This is a requirement to enter into these events. For more information click here.
EFC COVID procedures for fencers and the organisers can be found here:
Passports expiration dates should be checked to ensure the country that the athletes are visiting will allow them to enter with a sufficient length.
More details can be found here regarding International Travel responsibilities here.
