BF is looking to recruit, support and train a Fencing Development Team who can support the growth of fencing in their local areas.
What is the Fencing Development Team?
Our vision at BF is to develop a strong, successful and sustainable fencing community: community being the makeup of people within our sport such as coaches, the wider workforce such as referees and team managers, our social impact work and of course participants.
To support the growth and development of the workforce, BF would like to recruit, train and support a dedicated Fencing Development Team who will have an impact on the people who inspire people to start, stay and succeed in fencing.
The Fencing Development Team will be responsible for delivering BF courses to develop and upskill the workforce in a range of settings from schools to clubs.
Through this work, we also hope that the Fencing Development Team will help to connect clubs to local opportunities and organisations which could grow club membership.
In addition, being part of the Fencing Development Team can increase your earning potential through the delivery of courses.
Who can be part of the Fencing Development Team?
The Fencing Development Team is open to anyone who has a passion for the impact fencing can have, and wish to pass on their knowledge and expertise. Your current qualifications will determine what you can deliver, but we are equally keen to hear from people who can support our We Are Forging Futures Programme and community projects through the Core Coach offer as we are those who can support through delivering our Introduction to Coaching Fencing and Coaching Fencing Level 2 courses.
We are also keen to hear from people interested in supporting wider workforce roles too.
Information for current Coach Developers
The development of a Fencing Development Team brings with it a subtle but significant change in the language from Coach Developer to Fencing Developer.
Why the name change?
Our vision at BF is to develop a strong, successful and sustainable fencing community. Coaching forms one aspect, albeit a very large and important piece of a collaborative fencing community. As the team evolves, Fencing Developers will support and collaborate with the wider workforce that inspire people to start, stay and succeed in fencing.
The term ‘Fencing Developer,’ also, in our opinion, better represents the role required; that being people who not only deliver our courses, but also connect with opportunities on a local level through BF’s programmes and partnerships.
There is obviously an element of ‘developing coaches’ through the delivery of courses, but we envisage Fencing Developers from a wide range of workforce experiences such as refereeing, team management and armourers working together collaboratively – together, forming a Fencing Development Team.
We would love for you to continue the brilliant work that you do. To support this transition, we would like to invite you to a Christmas get-together to thank you for your efforts, share best practice, meet the Coaching & Workforce Team and provide some refresher training.
