UPCOMING GBR CAMPS 2024-25

This information relates to the July 2024 GBR Pathway Programme Camp.

Invites to this camp have been issued via Sport80. If you were expecting an invite but have not received one, please email [email protected].

Please note that the July 2024 Camp will be for foil and sabre only, with the Foil Camp taking place in London and the Sabre Camp taking place in Cardiff. For epee, a pilot of providing coaching support for GBR Pathway Programme for cadets and juniors at a BRC is taking place the same weekend. Cadet and Junior epeeists on the Pathway Programme have been contacted about this and invitations have been issued via Sport80.

Date, Venue and Staff

The Camps are taking place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2024 and details of the timings and venues are as follows:

Foil

Saturday 6th July: 13:00-20:00
Sunday 7th July: 09:30-17:00

Please arrive from 12:30 on Saturday and from 09:00 on Sunday so we can start on time each day.

Who is it camp for?

This camp is targeted towards fencers new to the GBR Pathway Programme, fencers undertaking the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) and T1-T4 fencers.

Camp outcomes

This section will be updated with plans and outcomes for the Camp nearer the time.

What do you need to do beforehand?

Please ensure you have accepted your invitation on Sport80 at least two weeks before the Camp.

What do you need to bring with you?

Essential

  • Full fencing kit. All must be in good condition and you should have at least 3 weapons and 2 body wires
  • Test and tool kit to maintain your fencing kit
  • Sports kit for non-fencing activity. T-shirts, shorts, indoor running shoes/trainers
  • Suitable shoes for all your sports activities. You may need: indoor running or cross-training shoes, outdoor running shoes, fencing shoes
  • Resistance bands
  • Named water bottle
  • Your training diary, a computer or tablet if your diary is in electronic format or online, computer or tablet if you are part of the DiSE programme
  • A laptop, computer or tablet so you can access and add to your IADP while at the camp
  • Your ADP tracksuit if you have one (please arrive wearing your tracksuit)
  • A waterproof jacket
  • Any essential medication
  • Mobile phone (please see the guidelines to the use of phones in the code of conduct)
  • Food – you will need to bring lunch each day as there is limited food available to buy onsite.

Desirable

  • Plasters and non-essential medication, e.g. paracetamol
  • Heart rate monitor
  • Laptop or computer

What not to bring

  • Unhealthy snack food

Welfare

There will be an appointed welfare officer on site at both the foil and sabre Camps. Details will be included on this page in due course, and fencers will be introduced to the welfare officer at the start of the Camps.

When is the next Camp after this one?

The next GBR Performance Pathway Camp after July will take place on 31st August and 1st September 2024. Invitations will be sent via Sport80 in early June.
