Background

There is an increasing information already published on the BF website (an increasing number of ‘quicklinks’ can be found on the GBR Zone pages – e.g. GBR Cadet Zone). The intention in providing text and commentary is to make it easier to find the information needed.

U17 Cadets GBR Guide

This guide was originally intended for parents of U17s (Cadets) that have been selected (or want to be selected) for GBR for the first time, taking into consideration the most commonly asked questions.

This page can also be used to help and support:

  • Other parents who, whilst it may not be their first time, might be finding it difficult to keep track of what is supposed to happen and when.
  • Clubs and personal coaches as they in turn support fencers and parents on the journey to GBR selections.

Major Events Guide

This guide is intended to give athletes, parents and coaches background information about Major Events which needs to be factored into their season planning and any decision to accept a selection.

For U17s, the Major Events (European Championships) are their first GBR Squad experience. There are a number of very important differences between these and the EFC U17 (Cadet) events that parents, athletes and personal coaches need to be aware of and plan for well in advance of selection.

This guide supplements the individual major event dedicated pages that get created as we know more about each specific event: GBR MAJOR EVENTS ZONE
