Triple Olympian James Williams joins the ADP Sabre Management Team to support the ADP’s preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and beyond, as Rob Cawdron takes on the role of ADP Weapon Lead.
Following the conclusion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and to enable it to prepare properly for the transition into the Paris 2024 Cycle and beyond, the Athlete Development Programme (ADP) is delighted to confirm the team that will be responsible for guiding ADP Sabre through this period.
Rob Cawdron is confirmed in the role of Weapon Lead for Sabre, with responsibility for delivery of the ADP Sabre training camps and international competition for Cadet, Junior and U23 age groups.
In addition to this, the ADP Sabre Management Team will be joined by triple Olympian James Williams, who brings a wealth of experience of elite level Sabre fencing (as an athlete as well as a coach), combined with his experience built over a wide-ranging career that has seen him hold a number of Senior Leadership positions. James will be bringing his significant experience to bear, providing leadership support to the ADP Sabre Team as it moves through the 2024, 2028 and 2032 Olympic cycles, ensuring that BF can best direct our limited resources to maximise the potential of our athletes to deliver Olympic success.
Head of Pathways, Steve Kemp, said of the news, “We are delighted to welcome James Williams into the ADP Sabre Management Team, his CV speaks for itself, and his experience not just as a multi-Olympic athlete, but as a senior leader in industry will make him an invaluable asset in BF’s ambition to make British Sabre a force to be reckoned with on the world stage.”
