#BFLEARNINGWEEK 2024: ATHLETE HEALTH: PERFORMING AT MAJOR EVENTS, WITH ELLIE GRIFFIN (UKSI)

Ellie Griffin (UKSI) joins #BFLearningWeek with the session ‘Athlete Health: Performing at Major Events’, taking place on Monday 2nd September 2024 at 12-2pm.

About the session

Athlete health is a contributing factor to the success of athletes at Major Championships. Being self-aware and understanding their mental as well as physical fitness is important in the development of elite athletes. This workshop will explore:

  • Understanding and talking about mental health – What do we mean when we talk about mental health? How and when do we talk about mental health? Mental health in our own context.
  • Looking after self – The importance of self-care; stress-bucket.
  • Supporting others – Responding to real-life concerns; signposting and support available.

About Ellie Griffin

Ellie is the Mental Health Officer at the UK Sports Institute, working across all Olympic and Paralympic World Class Programmes to arrange and deliver a variety of mental health education workshops and training. She previously did a similar role for Sporting Chance, working with professional sports including football, rugby and cricket.

 

About BF Learning Week

#BFLearningWeek 2024 will explore many aspects of our sport, with experts in coaching, sports psychology and performance joining guest speakers and the BF team to give insight into our fencing world and its future.

The week will take place between the 30th August and 6th September.
