Cador Beautyman took a gold medal at the Junior Epee World Cup in San Jose, while the GBR cadet women’s sabre team took the bronze medal at the EFC Cadet event in Sofia.
Cador Beautyman claimed gold in men’s epee at the Junior Epee World Cup in San Jose, Costa Rica on Saturday 16th November 2024.
Beautyman triumphed over a field of 54, facing Isaac Dorati of Panama in the final and winning 15-12.
Cador said: “I was overjoyed to win this weekend. It’s my first big international win in an individual competition. There was some really strong competition fencing and I’m delighted to have proven myself again on the world stage.”
“Usually right now I’d be looking at how I could have done better and thinking about my own fencing level, looking at my next competition but for once I’m just enjoying the win with a smile on my face.”
On the same day, the cadet women’s sabre team of Coco Guven, Hui Xin Sezille, Maya Sutton and Clara Shimmin won the bronze at the EFC Cadet Sabre event in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The team faced the USA in the semi-finals, just narrowly missing the gold match with a score of 45-42.
Clara Shimmin faced off against Isabella Favo, scoring an impressive 11 hits taking the score to 39-33. However, the team lost their lead in the final battle between Hui Xin Sezille and the USA’s Ruth Mund, with Mund taking eight points.
“The support and energy from the team was incredible and it was amazing to have so much atmosphere surrounding the fights. The coaches had an incredible impact and made us all feel really supported and overall it was a super fun day!” Shimmin said afterwards.
