BF Medical Officer requests notification of positive test cases within fencing participants.
As the number of Covid-19 cases start to rise again, it will be very useful to have a record of the number of people who test positive for Covid-19 and have attended a fencing session within the relevant time period. This will help us to monitor fencing activities to gain a better understanding of the the risk of transmission and if necessary amend or strengthen the BF guidelines to decrease risk further.
Please can Covid Officers notify myself of any such cases within their clubs – these reports must be anonymous unless consent to pass on personal details has been provided.
As a reminder club risk assessments should be reviewed regularly in light of the changing situation and government advice, and if necessary additional mitigation measures brought in to further protect participants. Should a case of transmission through attending a fencing session be identified the club risk assessment and mitigation practices will be reviewed by BF in conjunction with the Covid Officer to identify if there are opportunities to further reduce risk and update BF guidelines.
Can I take this opportunity to remind all fencers to comply with the guidelines which are in place for everyone’s benefit.
Thank you and keep safe
Clare
