As a result of the recent FIE Congress decisions please note the following rule changes in relation to minimum ages for Senior and Junior Events.
New FIE rule o.29 (previously o.55)
With effect from the 2018/19 season, fencers must have reached their 13th birthday before they may apply for an FIE licence.
(Previously a fencer must have been 13 on the 1st of January in the year of the competition)
New BF rule
From 1st January 2018, fencers must be at least 13 on the day of the event to compete in a junior or senior competition in the UK.
This decision does not affect Cadet events where the existing rule remains in place – fencers must be at least 11 on 1st January in order to compete in any UK cadet events in that calendar year
The BF website has been updated accordingly and the relevant page can be found here.
