The British Fencing Honours Committee invites BF members to nominate individuals for the BF Honours awards. The process for so doing is now open and will close on the 31st May 2024.
The British Fencing Honours nomination system focuses entirely on the membership with all nominations coming directly from current members. The Honours Committee acts as selectors with the object of recommending awards in a wide range of categories whilst ensuring that there is consistency of award levels and criteria. Awards are conferred annually and announced and presented at the AGM by the British Fencing President. These are separate from the British Fencing Community Awards.
Nominators are to be aware that their nominee(s) are expected to be British Fencing members who have demonstrably upheld the values of British Fencing, i.e. honesty, respect and excellence. Mention of this is to be made in the description below. If the nominee is involved with an active club, that club must be affiliated with British Fencing and be following minimum British Fencing standards specifically with regards to safeguarding, coaching and membership. Nominations for those contributing to clubs should also relate to clubs that meet current BF Safeguarding and Welfare standards.
Fencers who have represented GBR either as an individual or as a team member and have achieved a podium place in one of the following categories will automatically be recommended for an appropriate award:
Senior World Championships
Senior European Championships
Cadet & Junior World Championships
Cadet & Junior European Championships
Veterans World Championships (individual gold only)
IWAS World Championships (Cat A & B)
Olympic Games
Paralympic Games (Cat A & B)
Fencing coaches and others paid for their involvement in our sport will only be considered for an award if they have enhanced the world of UK fencing beyond what might reasonably be expected as part of their paid employment, and which, in the case of those paid by a club, also benefits fencers who are not members of that club.
Please click the button above and complete the application form, giving as much detail as possible for your reasons in making the recommendation.
Please note that for the 2024 awards, your nominations must arrive no later than 31st May 2024.
(Please also note, you must be at least 18 years of age to make a nomination).
