SAFEGUARDING POSTERS FOR CLUBS WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

A series of posters are now available for clubs to download, to help clubs remind children and young people of their rights, what they can expect from adults and where to go if they have a concern.

The posters are available in the BF Digital Portal.

Whether or not you choose to use these posters we are asking all parents, coaches and club committee members to talk to the children and young people that they look after to ensure that they know and understand their safeguarding rights, what they can expect from adults and where to go if they have a concern:

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO…

  • Feel safe and respected.
  • Healthy relationships and appropriate boundaries between you and your coach.
  • Not to be bullied, intimidated or threatened.
  • Not be treated differently based on gender, race, religion, etc.).

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ADULTS…

  • Treat you with respect and never intimidate or bully you.
  • Put your welfare and wellbeing first.
  • To listen to and act on any concerns you have, whether they’re about you or someone at your club.
  • Know and understand their safeguarding responsibilities, and how to keep you safe from harm.

TELL SOMEONE IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN…

  • Talk to a club Welfare Officer if the concern relates to an affiliated club activity.
  • Talk to a trusted adult, e.g. your parent or guardian, a teacher, a coach.
  • Talk to a friend, whether they’re part of your club or not.
  • Contact the designated event welfare officer if the incident arises during an event.

If none of the above apply or you are not comfortable speaking to the nominated welfare officers please contact the BF Lead Safeguarding Officer during normal working hours: Liz Behnke on 077177 40125 OR complete this form.

IF THE CONCERN IS SERIOUS OR IMMINENT…

You must contact the Police or Children/Adult Services in your area and then contact the BF Lead Safeguarding Officer on the emergency 24hr safeguarding number on 07526 003030 immediately.
