International events

Outside of the World Championships and European Championships, for which competitors are selected for by British Fencing and the World Class Program, there are normally 5-7 international wheelchair fencing World Cup and Satellite events throughout the season. These are open to all fencers to enter, although you will need international classification to compete. Classification is frequently offered at these events and must be applied for when entering. You can see upcoming events on the World Abilitysport calendar here, and these are republished on the British Fencing website, along with information on how to apply to enter, here at the start of the season in January.

Given that the Paralympic Games is taking precedence over other competitions at present, we are awaiting confirmation of dates and locations for many upcoming competitions aside from the World Cup in Pisa which takes place from 7th to 10th November 2024. We recommend you look at the past events calendar here to get an idea of the schedule of events.

Invites to attend each event will be sent out once British Fencing is furnished with the competition information from World Abilitysport. Purchase of necessary licences and booking of classification, if required, is done through British Fencing.

We are exploring working with other nations with developed national circuit events to offer competitive opportunities below the level of World Cups as a way of introducing newer fencers in need of experience to the competitive side of the sport.
