Selection dates and rankings

As the majority of selections will be taken directly off the Senior Ranking list we would like to draw athletes’ attention to the process by which the rankings lists are created and published.

The senior rankings updating process is as follows:

1. Competition organisers are asked to send results to the ranking collator within a few days   [This does not always happen so at times certain results will not be included until the following month]

2. Updated provisional rankings are published – within a target date for each month.

The list of the target dates are published here.  gbr_senior_ranking_publication_dates_2017-18_v1.0[4].xlsx

It is the responsibility of the athletes to ensure that their ranking is correct and to notify Head Office of any errors within 2 working days of the publication of provisional ranking lists.

3. 10 working days is then allowed for any errors to be identified and corrected.

4. Final accurate rankings are then published and can be used for selection.

This whole process can take 3 weeks following the last event in a month. This is partly due to the volume of competitions that count for ranking points, in addition to the time spent on identifying and fixing errors in submitted files.

Selection dates (agreed by the selectors for each weapon)  have been set to take this process into account as well as allowing at least 6 weeks to the competition date.

The expectation is that selectors will use the latest final version of the rankings rather than a provisional one.
