Five thousand people attend SportsAid’s Elton John concert on Saturday

SportsAid’s Elton John concert on Saturday was a huge success, drawing 5,000 fans to raise money for the next generation of British athletes who hope to compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Some of the photos of the event follow below, including some great shots of some of the Olympians and Paralympians who came along to show their support for the next generation with SportsAid. Other photos show the five sports that were on show around the grounds of Stoke Park – archery, fencing, judo, sitting volleyball and taekwondo – for the guests’ enjoyment.

British Fencing would like to thank those fencers who took part in the event – Megan Beddoe, Laura Gladdish, Chris Lawrence & Brynmor Saunders.  Speaking on behalf of the group, Laura said; “SportsAid put on a fantastic event on Saturday.  It was a great chance to show people how brilliant fencing is.  SportsAid have really helped me achieve my goals in helping fund me so I can compete at international competitions.  It was a pleasure to give something back to them at the weekend.”

British Fencing’s Event Manager, Katie Rhodes added; “We are always keen to support SportsAid events.  Their grants help fencers each year with the costs of training and competing at the highest level, and events like these are an excellent opportunity to showcase our sport and highlight to donors and supporters of SportsAid the difference their funding can make to young athletes.”
