Following the recent Junior European Championships, the Performance Team (Performance Director, Head Coach, Talent Coaches and Talent Pathway Manager) have further considered the case for a Junior Men’s Epee team to be given discretionary selection for the 2017 Junior World Championships.

Based on the future direction of the Talent Programme the Performance Team agreed to give discretionary selection to the Junior Men’s Epee Team.

All six weapons now have teams entered for the Junior World Championships 2017.  This means that all have an equal chance to earn ranking points and use these to their advantage in their ranking and seeding for competitions in the 2017/18 season.  It should be noted that selection for the Junior World Championships in 2018, will be based on performances during the 2017/2018 given all teams have had the same equal chance to improve their performances and are not disadvantaged by potential points lost by not attending the 2017 Worlds.

The team has been confirmed as:

Matthew Cooper
Owen Jordan
Aml Sinclair

Selected fencers will compete in both the individual and team events.
