Congratulations to the following British Fencing volunteers who have been selected to represent GB at the 2020 Cadet & Junior European Championships. Adrian Speakman and Sarah Steacy, both members of the BF Referee Pathway Program have been selected as officials by the European Fencing Confederation and Jon Willis has been selected to be part of the Director Technique (DT).
Speaking about his appointment, Adrian Speakman said, “I’m delighted to have been selected to represent Great Britain as a referee at this event. Myself and my colleagues work hard throughout the season, so I’m proud to get the chance to represent British Fencing again at the Championships.”
Sarah Steacy, an associate member of the Referee Pathway Program added, “I’m really exciting to have been selected for my first European Championships and I’m looking forward to the competition. I would like to thank British Fencing and the referee pathway for their support.”
And Jon Willis, the BF Competitions Manager, commented, “I’m really looking forward to being part of the DT Team for the Cadet & Junior European Championships in 2020. I learnt a lot from being part of the DT at the U23 European Championships in 2019 and am pleased to have been selected again. I sadly won’t have my regular DT team with me but having Adrian and Sarah at the Championships will be really nice. I think Nickie Bailey and the BF Referee Pathway can take some real pride in the inclusion of their graduates at these European Championships”.
The event takes place from 22nd February to 2nd March in Porec Croatia. For more information please visit the official championships website.
