WAVING GOODBYE AND WISHING GOOD LUCK TO OUR PARALYMPIANS

On Saturday 17th August, our Paralympic fencers were joined by friends and family at Bath University to give them an official send-off ahead of their departure to Paris for the Paralympic Games.

As the team begin to make their way to France to undertake their final preparations for the start of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Saturday provided an opportunity for loved ones and colleagues to reflect on the hard work, dedication and commitment of the athletes and their support team as they get ready for Paris.

Matt Hammond, Wheelchair Fencing Performance Manager (above, right) thanked all those involved in supporting the athletes’ preparations in the build-up to Paris.

Stephen Baddeley, Director of Sport at Bath University (above, left) reflected on the impact the athletes had had on the university community, wishing them good luck on behalf of the staff and students at Bath.

Virginia Bailey, BF Participation Director, attended the event and said,

“On behalf of the whole team at BF, we wish Dimitri, Gemma, Ollie and Piers all the best in Paris and we’ll be cheering you all on throughout the Games!”

A special message for our Paralympians here:

The wheelchair fencing competition starts on 3rd September. BF will update on where to watch the competition and where to find results in due course.
